Bratislava, May 22 (TASR) - Parliament on Wednesday resumed a special session on a bill dealing with changes in public-service broadcaster Radio and Television Slovakia (RTVS).
The institution should be renamed Slovak Television and Radio (STVR). The session was postponed a week ago following the assassination attempt on Premier Robert Fico (Smer-SD).
The bill on STVR was approved by the government in late April. The motion doesn't formally split RTVS, but it does change the rules guiding the creation of the public-broadcaster's bodies and terminates the tenure of incumbent director Lubos Machaj and the RTVS Board members.
The parliamentary debate on the bill has been limited to a maximum of 24 hours. The total time will be divided among individual parliamentary caucuses. Thirty speakers are yet to take the floor.
