Jaurova: Culture Minister Needs to Go, She Lacks Any Vision or Expertise

Bratislava, May 10 (TASR) - Culture Minister Martina Simkovicova (SNS nominee) has no vision for developing her portfolio and doesn't build anything, House Culture and Media Committee vice-chair Zora Jaurova (PS) declared on Friday during a debate on a motion to oust Simkovicova from her post. Jaurova is convinced that SNS could have found a more competent person for the job than Simkovicova. According to Jaurova, Simkovicova is not capable of governing the Culture Ministry and every additional day she remains in the post is a catastrophe for culture. "All she does, in essence, is destroy what others have built before her," she said. Jaurova underlined that the minister fails to address the transformation of the cultural infrastructure and has never explained how she intends to approach rapid digital changes that reshape creative processes in culture or secure multi-source financing. On the contrary, she is paving the way for the liquidation of public media, destroys the public funds via amending proposals and ruins their public character and independence. Jaurova called Simkovicova's manner of communication undignified. In her view, Simkovicova lacks the expertise, professional credit, knowledge, managing experience, empathy or refinement needed to understand the agenda of culture in its broader context. mf/mcs
