Ruzomberok, May 10 (TASR) - The construction of the D1-motorway section near Ruzomberok in Zilina region is currently progressing very quickly, said Transport Minister Jozef Raz (a Smer-SD nominee) in a video posted on a social network on Friday, adding that all difficult sections and problems have been resolved. "The progress on the construction site is significant. There are roughly 500 workers there every day, the mood is good. The construction work has gone through its hardships, there have been several unforeseen landslides, the whole tunnel route had to be redesigned. Today, all the difficult sections and problems are behind us," stated the minister, adding that the Cebrat tunnel is also at the final stage of construction. The construction of the Hubova-Ivachnova D1-motorway stretch was begun in 2013 by a consortium of OHL ZS and Vahostav-SK. The D1 stretch is designed to bypass the town of Ruzomberok and connect to the existing motorway to Kosice. By using the motorway stretch, which will be 14.92-kilometres long, drivers will save 16 minutes when compared to using the local first-class road. am/df
