Bratislava, May 7 (TASR) - Twenty-percent hikes in financial contributions for recognised sports, support for more than 16 important sports event that would have stayed without financial backing otherwise as well as the work on legislative proposals to enable more efficient support for sports are among the top activities that have been carried out by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports in the first 100 days of its existence, Tourism and Sports Minister Dusan Keketi declared at a press conference held on Tuesday. Keketi is happy with the positive feedback from sports associations. "What we lack in Slovakia is the clear definition of the sports infrastructure on the national and supranational levels," claimed Keketi. "We're holding talks with the Finance Ministry and the Slovak Guarantee and Development Bank on changes to the financing of the sports infrastructure so as to give it a long-term character and no longer have it based on nothing but non-repayable contributions in a given year," he said, adding that the building of the sports infrastructure must be guided by the principle of long-term sustainability of projects. mf/mcs
