Bratislava, May 7 (TASR) - The Tourism and Sport Ministry's priority in the field of tourism is to set up a fund for the promotion of tourism, develop tourism in the regions and attract foreign tourists, Tourism and Sport Minister Dusan Keketi (a Slovak National Party/SNS nominee) said on Tuesday at a press conference on the occasion of the three months of the functioning of the new ministry, adding that €100 million more per year will be spent on the development of tourism and sport. "The development of tourism and sport will receive €100 million more per year. My priority is to deliver measurable results in both tourism and sport, which is why we're making conceptual changes based on a clear strategy. Together with a team of experts, we aim to kick-start tourism, bring more funds to the regions and exploit the potential that Slovakia offers," said Keketi. The ministry has developed or is preparing a number of projects for the development of tourism. The ministry is preparing a legislative proposal to establish a tourism promotion fund and is also preparing an amendment to the Tourism Promotion Act. The head of the ministry also evaluated the functioning of the ministry for almost 100 days of its operation, stating that the ministry had ensured the full functionality of subsidies for regional tourism organisations, among which they plan to reallocate approximately €10 million. The ministry, together with partners, is also launching a project called eVisitor to track data on the movement of tourists in Slovakia. am/mcs
