Bratislava, May 4 (TASR) - The celebration of three significant anniversaries and the 'christening' of the F-16 fighter will be the leitmotif of this year's SIAF International Aviation Days due to be held at Kuchyna-Malacky (Bratislava region) airbase on August 31 and September 1, Slovak Aviation Agency media manager Tereza Simoncicova has told TASR. "The main content plan for the SIAF 2024 event will be to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Slovak National Uprising, the 20th anniversary of Slovakia joining the European Union and NATO, and the 75th anniversary of the founding of NATO," said Hubert Stoksa, SIAF general director and director of the Slovak Aviation Agency. This year's aviation days aim to contribute towards dignified and spectacular celebrations of these important milestones in the history of Slovakia. The aviation days have a new major partner, the Interior Ministry. According to Stoksa, the ministry will participate in the event via dynamic and static demonstrations of the capabilities of the Police Corps, the Fire and Rescue Corps, the integrated rescue system and the Interior Ministry's squadron. Presenting the equipment and capabilities of the Slovak army will again form part of SIAF's agenda this year. Airborne and static demonstrations of aviation technology will be presented by invited air forces from NATO countries. The programme will also include a flyover of a combined group of the Slovak army's air force and the Interior Ministry's squadron. The Defence Ministry plans to present the Slovak army's new acquisition, its F-16 fighters, at SIAF as well. SIAF is the biggest air show in Slovakia. Last year it drew in over 35,000 visitors. ko/df
