Stats: Industrial Producer Prices Down 15 percent Y-o-Y in March

Bratislava, April 26 (TASR) - Industrial producer prices for the domestic market decreased for the third consecutive month in March, dropping by as much as a double-digit 15 percent year-on-year (y-o-y) , mainly owing to a fall in energy costs by as much as 31 percent, the Statistics Office reported on Friday. The overall drop in industrial producer prices chiefly resulted from price decreases in the strongest industries in terms of market share, such as the production of means of transport (down 2.1 percent), the production of metals (4.8 percent), the production of food, beverages and tobacco (3.6 percent) and the production of rubber and plastics (1.8 percent). Meanwhile, prices in water supplies continued to grow - by 10.8 percent y-o-y in March. On a monthly basis, industrial producer prices fell by 0.2 percent in March. In the first three months of the year, meanwhile, industrial producer prices for the domestic market decreased by 11.5 percent. Prices of industrial products for export in March were 2.8 percent lower than the year before, while they rose by 0.2 percent on a monthly basis. In January-March 2024, prices of industrial products for export were 2.4 percent y-o-y lower than the year before. ko/df
