Remisova: Fico Attempts to Intimidate Judges

Bratislava, April 25 (TASR) - The actions of Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) are displays of intimidation against the judicial power, which he threatens, opposition MP Veronika Remisova ('Slovakia'-For the People-KU) declared at a press conference held on Thursday. Remisova responded this way to Tuesday's (April 23) probe by the Justice Ministry in the Supreme Court. In her view, Fico is attempting to gain access to things he has no legal claim to demand. Remisova also called on Prosecutor-General Maros Zilinka to start noticing what's happening to the rule of law in Slovakia and how the executive power is making threats to the judicial power. MP Gabor Grendel added that Fico has a problem with several judges of the Specialised Criminal Court and Supreme Court. "Yesterday's attempt to download a complete database was serving this goal, to have vengeance against the judges he doesn't like," he said and warned employees of the Justice Ministry not to let themselves get misused for political games played by Prime Minister Robert Fico and Justice Minister Boris Susko (Smer-SD). mf/mcs
