MPs Commemorate Beginning of Armenian Genocide with Minute of Silence

24. apríla 2024 18:31
Bratislava, April 24 (TASR) - Parliament late afternoon on Wednesday observed a minute of silence to commemorate the 109th anniversary of the beginning of the Armenian genocide. They did so based on MP Marian Caucik's (KDH) proposal. With the minute of silence, the Parliament expressed its support for sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity, just and lasting peace and the preservation of cultural and religious heritage in the South Caucasus, especially in Armenia. Caucik recalled that Parliament adopted a resolution 20 years ago in which it recognises the Armenian genocide and considers this act a crime against humanity. On this day in 1915, the mass killing of 1.5 million Armenians culminated in Turkey. It was one of the biggest genocides of members of one nation until the World War II. ko/mcs
