Government Rejects Proposed Candidates for Judges of EU General Court and ECHR

Bratislava, April 24 (TASR) - The government on Wednesday rejected proposals for candidates for judges of the General Court of the European Union and the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) for the Slovak Republic. The Judicial Council proposed Michal Kianicka as a candidate for a judge of the EU General Court. It nominated Zuzana Vikarska, Radoslav Prochazka and Marian Giga for the ECHR. The mandate of the judge currently representing Slovakia at the Strasbourg-based ECHR will expire on December 28, 2024, and the election of the judge representing Slovakia is scheduled for the June session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. The mandate of the EU General Court judge for Slovakia expired on August 31, 2022. am/df
