Bratislava, April 12 (TASR) - The letter sent to the Slovak government by the European Commission, which has been leaked to the media, is not the only one of its kind and the tone of the communication implies that it's not only the drawing of finances under the Recovery Plan but also the EU Funds overall that are in jeopardy due to the Slovak government's new penal policy, SaS MP Maria Kolikova declared on Friday. Kolikova is convinced that the Special Prosecutor's Office (USP) could have been scrapped in such a way so as not to endanger access to the EU funds. She pointed out that it's not possible to abolish USP and not attend to the resultant matter of what would happen to all the criminal cases, in particular those concerning financial interests of the EU. The non-parliamentary 'Democrats' party delivered a letter to Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD), in which it requests that Fico informs the public clearly, comprehensively and immediately on what steps he plans to undertake in order to prevent the stopping of EU Funds and finances under the Recovery Plan for Slovakia. 'Democrats' spokesperson Martina Kakascikova emphasised that the European Commission intends to stop the finances for Slovakia over the government's dangerous activities with respect to its penal policy changes. mf/mcs
