NATO20: Alliance Flag Raised in Front of Presidential Palace on Anniversary Day

Bratislava, March 29 (TASR) - The NATO flag was raised in front of the Presidential Palace on Friday to mark the 20th anniversary of Slovakia joining the Alliance. In her speech at this week's commemorative dinner, President Zuzana Caputova said that two decades ago Slovakia made the most important and best possible decision for its security. She noted that she considers it important that Slovakia should continue to be an ally not only on paper, but also a true friend in practice, adding that no other alternative would protect Slovakia as much as NATO does. On Thursday, Caputova visited the NATO Force Integration Unit Slovakia (NFIU) in Bratislava. Slovakia became an official member of NATO on March 29, 2004. zel/df
