Korcok is Sorry that He Didn't Have Chance to Present His Vision to Forro

Bratislava, March 27 (TASR) - Presidential candidate Ivan Korcok said on Wednesday that he is sorry that he didn't have a chance to present his presidential vision to ethnic Hungarian Alliance party chairman Krisztian Forro. Forro, who failed to make it to the round two of the presidential election, has cancelled his planned meeting with Korcok, saying that it would be pointless [to hold it]. According to Korcok, it is evident that Alliance will support candidate Peter Pellegrini (Voice-SD) in the run-off round. "I am sorry that Mr. Forro didn't even take the chance to listen to my presidential vision, which I also offer to fellow ethnic-Hungarian citizens. Nevertheless, I have great respect for the ethnic Hungarians living in Slovakia and at the same time I trust them that, despite the Alliance's decision, they will make use of their votes in a responsible and free manner," said Korcok. According to Korcok, ethnic Hungarian voters have always been on the side of the democratic spectrum and ethnic Hungarian parties have always been part of modernising governments and the modernising flow of politics. "Currently the largest ethnic minority doesn't have its own representation in parliament. I want the voice of ethnic minorities to be heard clearly at least in the [presidential] palace," he said. Korcok declared that his advisory team would reflect the status and importance of ethnic minorities in Slovakia. He called Pellegrini's new ardour for the ethnic Hungarian community "a merely political calculation". "It is quite likely that the day after the election, he'll forget about the ethnic Hungarian community, just like he did about his promises of cheaper food," stated Korcok. Forro and Pellegrini announced a joint press conference for Wednesday afternoon, dedicated to the presidential campaign.
