Ex-president Schuster to Receive Brazil's Highest State Decoration

Kosice, January 11 (TASR) - Slovakia's former president Rudolf Schuster will be awarded Brazil's top state decoration - the Order of Rio Branco, Grand Cross, in Kosice on Thursday on the occasion of his recent 90th birthday, Brazil's Honorary Consul in Kosice Daniel Sajtak has told TASR. "The award, which is being granted by decree of the president of Brazil, is recognition of President Schuster's contribution to bilateral relations between Brazil and Slovakia. Four generations of the Schuster family have visited Brazil since the late 1920s, making four full expeditions, which are recorded in four books written by the former president," explained Sajtak, adding that Schuster will receive the award from the hands of Brazilian Ambassador to Slovakia Gabriel Boff Moreira. The ceremony on Thursday will be attended by, among others, incumbent President Zuzana Caputova, House Chair Peter Pellegrini and government representatives. zel/df
