Bratislava, December 18 (TASR) - The Digital Courses project organised more than 500 educational courses for thousands of seniors throughout Slovakia this year, giving them the opportunity to learn how to work effectively with a computer or smartphone, the Digital Coalition (DK), which implemented the project in cooperation with the Investment Ministry, reported on Monday.
"Seniors reacted positively not only to the courses that they could attend in person, but also to an online educational platform. The latter helped them to handle their smartphones and overcome fears of using modern technologies," said DK president Mario Lelovsky.
According to DK, seniors have learned to work with a computer and smartphone and use email and social networks during free educational courses. The training included recognition of hoaxes and security rules when using the internet. The participants also dealt with basic work with photoshop and applications such as Whatsapp and Zoom.
Concerning employees of public administration institutions, the courses were aimed at advanced work with selected digital tools in MS Office. They also learned to create modern presentations with MS Powerpoint and process data in clear tables, which is often a basic requirement from employers due to the need to process information clearly.
"Work with seniors, as well as disadvantaged groups of employees in public administration, requires absolute professionalism, but also patience. You can lose the trust of these target groups only once, and we cannot afford that. This is why I'm personally proud of the number of seniors whom we managed to educate thanks to the project, and we will definitely try to continue similar activities in the future," stated Investment Minister Richard Rasi (Voice-SD).
