Bratislava, December 9 (TASR) - Private Czech passenger rail carrier Leo Express will start serving the Bratislava-Komarno route as of Sunday (December 10), its spokesman Emil Sedlarik has told TASR, adding that the carrier plans to dispatch almost 100 trains per day.
A total of 21 trains will operate on the Bratislava-Dunajska Streda-Velky Meder-Komarno route. Each of them can carry 240 passengers, with 140 seats. In addition to more frequent trains, the capacity of the rail connection between Dunajska Streda, Kvetoslavovo and Bratislava at peak times will increase as well, as trains will run at 20-minute intervals then.
The Leo Express trains on the Bratislava-Komarno route will have modern features. The carrier will deploy modern, low-floor, air-conditioned trains, which, among other things, will be equipped with wi-fi, a children's section and toilets for wheelchair users.
Tickets for Leo Express trains are already available. "The current fares on the Bratislava-Komarno route have been preserved," said Sedlarik. The carrier also offers rail passes for seven, 30 and 90 days.
Leo Expres trains, which will operate between Bratislava and Komarno, have already got their name. From among almost 400 proposals submitted by passengers themselves, the Leo Express jury has chosen the name 'Dunajska Strela' (Danube Arrow).
