Vysne Nemecke, December 5 (TASR) - The Union of Slovak Road Hauliers (UNAS) has suspended its strike involving a partial blockade of the Vysne Nemecke - Uzhhorod crossing point on the Slovak-Ukrainian border and will remain on strike alert for the time being, the union has reported on Facebook following Monday's meeting of EU transport ministers in Brussels. UNAS has been protesting against the scrapping of permits for Ukrainian carriers in the European Union and has joined its Polish colleagues in their protest to the same effect on the Polish-Ukrainian border. "The Union of Slovak Road Hauliers expressed its protest first with an hour-long blockade and then with a four-day partial blockade. This was done firstly to unite and support demands for the EU before the meeting of the Transport, Telecommunications and Energy Council..., and secondly to protest against the inaction of the government against the impact on our Slovak market. Today we suspended the strike and we're going on strike alert," said UNAS. Slovak Transport Minister Jozef Raz reported following the session in Brussels on Monday that the meeting didn't produce any response to Slovak and Polish truckers' protests. For Slovak and Polish hauliers, he said, this means they must negotiate with their respective governments on how to ensure that border crossings are passable. UNAS was blocking the crossing on Slovakia's eastern border since 3 p.m. on Friday, December 1. zel
