Bratislava, December 2 (TASR) - As many as 40 percent of employees in Slovakia haven't had their salaries increased this year despite increased living costs and inflation, according to a survey carried out by salary-oriented website platy.sk.
At the same time, approximately 30 percent of those workers who did receive a pay rise this year expected a bigger one.
Almost 50 percent of the respondents had their salaries increased by up to €100 per month, while 10 percent saw a hike of at least €300.
Only 15 percent of those who received a pay rise in 2023 claimed that they are content with their current salary.
According to job search website profesia.sk, which pointed to the survey, companies are aware of the critical situation, as the pay rises took place on their own initiative in two thirds of the cases.
Pay rises were most common among workers in the security and safety sector, with as many as 75 percent respondents from this area claiming that they had their salaries increased. Salary hikes were also frequent, albeit to a lesser extent, in the banking, education and human resources sectors. On the opposite side of the spectrum were the tourism and hospitality sectors in which 66 percent of employees have been receiving the same salary as last year.
