Bratislava, November 21 (TASR) - The passing of the government manifesto is the first step towards building a strong and socially just state, House Chair Peter Pellegrini (Voice-SD) declared after Parliament approved the government manifesto and granted confidence to the new government of Robert Fico (Smer-SD) on Tuesday. "By passing the manifesto, Slovakia has set out on a path towards building a strong and socially just state that places its emphasis on people," said Pellegrini, adding that Voice-SD is happy with the government manifesto. He thanked the coalition partners for accepting the fundamental priorities of Voice-SD. Pellegrini pointed to election promises made by his party and claimed that Voice-SD will attempt to meet them. In the manifesto, the government has also approved clear goals, such as appropriate energy prices and the introduction of a banking levy, he said. People will hold the government accountable based on its specific actions, which is why Pellegrini called on individual ministers to be aware that this is their chance to convince the public that they are serious about helping the country. mf/df
