Nitra, October 13 (TASR) - The manhunt unit of the Police Corps, also known as the 'Skull Hunters', in cooperation with the Austrian police, has detained wanted Anton Hudec from Nitra, Police Corps Presidium spokesperson Denisa Bardyova reported on Friday, adding that one of the most wanted Slovaks was detained in the Austrian city of Graz. The Skull Hunters unit has been intensively working on the case since 2017. The situation was complicated by the fact that the wanted person was escaping in a very sophisticated manner, moving around several places in Europe, while using various aliases and fake documents, stated Bardyova. In the past, Hudec was engaged in committing violent crimes as part of an organised criminal group chiefly in Nitra region. The Nitra Regional Court on October 12, 2012 found Hudec guilty of the particularly serious crime of kidnapping and extortion, sending him to prison for 12 years. However, the wanted man did not start serving his prison sentence and escaped. He has been avoiding serving his sentence up to now. The Nitra District court issued a European and international warrant on him on December 20, 2012. The Skull Hunters have been searching for the wanted person since then. Thanks to the international cooperation within the ENFAST project, they cooperated intensively with the partner unit from the Bundeskriminalamt - FAST Austria, which detained Hudec in Graz these days. "Extradition proceedings will take place now, the purpose of which is to extradite the detainee to Slovakia," confirmed Bardyova. ko/mcs
