Spanish Lieutenant Colonel Joins NATO Force Integration Unit in Bratislava

Bratislava, September 29 (TASR) - The Spanish flag was raised at the headquarters of the NATO Force Integration Unit (NFIU) in Bratislava on Thursday as Spanish Lieutenant Colonel Adolfo Lena Pajares has joined the team, TASR has learnt from the Defence Ministry. According to the ministry, Pajares's arrival is the result of the Spanish government's decision to further bolster its presence in NATO's eastern flank. In addition, Spanish soldiers are soon set to reinforce the NATO Multinational Battlegroup in Slovakia. The flag-raising ceremony was attended, among others, by NFIU Commander Marian Kurilla, Spanish Ambassador to Slovakia Lorea Arribalzaga Ceballos, various representatives of the diplomatic corps in Slovakia, as well as professional soldiers. zel/mcs
