Bratislava, June 26 (TASR) - The third annual Stefan Osusky Summer School of Diplomacy was opened in Bratislava by its honorary president and ex-minister of foreign affairs Ivan Korcok on Monday and will last until July 1, TASR learnt from the Foreign Affairs Ministry's communications department on the same day.
"Today's generation of 20- and 30-somethings will one day head not only our foreign service, but also our society. So it's in our interests for it to be prepared, well-rounded and well-oriented, and I have no doubts that this summer school will contribute towards this," stated Korcok.
According to the ministry, the project creates space for young people to familiarise themselves with Slovak diplomacy and its goals. It also spreads the message of politician and diplomat Stefan Osusky, who was one of the founders of Czechoslovakia and whose thoughts on international cooperation inspired Robert Schuman when it came to founding the European Union.
A rich academic and social programme has been prepared for the 20 project participants, including a visit to the President's Office, the Government Office, the Defence Ministry and other domestic and international institutions.
