Matovic: Only Good That Slovakia Has Caretaker Gov't, Heger Failed Exemplary

Bratislava, May 15 (TASR) - OLaNO leader Igor Matovic opined on Monday that it's only good that Slovakia has a caretaker government now, remarking that ex-premier Eduard Heger failed in an exemplary manner when he tried to "cover up" the scandal involving a state subsidy for ex-agriculture minister Samuel Vlcan's family business.
"Moreover, after it broke out, instead of taking responsibility, he tried to absolve himself of responsibility and publicly begged the president to let him stay in his post in an undignified manner," noted Matovic.
The OLaNO leader stressed that any cover-up of clientelism is unacceptable and contrary to the DNA of his party. "What I also regret is the fact that the president knew about the scandal for two weeks and she remained silent instead of immediately dismissing him," added Matovic.
Meanwhile, Heger, an ex-OLaNO member, reacted to this by stating that Matovic is running away from responsibility while harassing people who stood by him for years. "You are running away from the responsibility of being the head of OLaNO, which nominated Vlcan and me. You are running away from the fact that you as prime minister nominated Vlcan to the post of state secretary..." said Heger.
