NAKA Seizes Illegally Held Firearms as Part of Operation Fortress

25. apríla 2023 13:59
Bratislava, April 25 (TASR) - The National Crime Agency (NAKA) in cooperation with the Hungarian police carried out Operation Fortress in Trnava, Handlova and Ruzomberok on Tuesday, seizing 14 illegally held firearms and charging one individual with illicit arming and arms-trafficking. Besides the 14 firearms, the police also seized more than 2,000 rounds of various calibers, numerous arms components, a grenade and home-made silencers. As the individual in question has been been given a conditional sentence for the same crime previously, a court has remanded them in custody. Operation Fortress is a follow-up on Operation Rajka, which was carried out by the Hungarian police in 2022. An international investigation team, including Europol, NAKA and the Special Prosecutor's Office, was set up in the wake of the latter mission. One of its main objectives is to identify the origin of seized weapons and explosives. zel/df
