Bratislava, March 23 (TASR) - Slovakia intends to contribute six members of its armed forces to the commanding structures of the European Union Military Assistance Mission Ukraine (EUMAM UA), according to a proposal submitted for comments by the Defence Ministry. The material still needs to be approved by the government and Parliament. The assignment should take place on the soil of EU member states, whereas Slovak soldiers and members of the Military Police could provide training to Ukrainian soldiers in Slovakia. Military training in Slovakia is to take place in the presence of soldiers from the EU, USA and Great Britain as well. According to the ministry, the participation of Slovakia in the training of Ukrainian military does not only constitute the show of unequivocal support for Ukraine that is embroiled in legitimate self-defence, but also the display of solidarity at the EU level and an investment in the restoration of the security environment on Slovakia's eastern border. EUMAM UA is planned for the time being until the end of 2024. Its mission is to provide training to 30,000 Ukrainian soldiers. mf/mcs
