Police Launch Criminal Prosecution over Fire in Banska Stiavnica

Banska Stiavnica, March 19 (TASR) – The police have initiated a criminal prosecution for the crime of public endangerment in connection with the large-scale fire in the centre of Banska Stiavnica (Banska Bystrica region), the Police Corps Regional Directorate in Banska Bystrica reported on a social network on Sunday. "Even today, a police team is on the scene continuing its inspection," wrote the police, adding that the damage to the buildings hasn't been expressed in numbers yet. The fire broke out on Saturday morning (March 18) in a historical building in the centre of Banska Stiavnica, one of Slovakia's UNESCO towns. It gradually expanded and damaged seven buildings. The firefighters have already managed to extinguish the fire. am
