Bratislava, March 17 (TASR) - OLANO MP Maria Sofranko has resigned from the Educational Support Fund's (FNPV) Council, the party's spokesman Matus Bystriansky told TASR on Friday. "I was informed a few weeks ago by interim Finance Minister Eduard Heger that he isn't pleased with my nomination for the FNPV Council. If I no longer enjoy the trust of an authorised person from the institution that nominated me, I see it as my responsibility to resign," said Sofranko. Sofranko emphasised that she was nominated by the Finance Ministry back in October 2022. "My membership of the Educational Support Fund Council was temporary, until June of 2023, with a symbolic remuneration of €70 per month." Sofranko also highlighted that during the public contest for the post of FNPV head, she tried to protect the public interest. "I tried to block a candidate against whom there were doubts regarding insufficient moral capacity. I still stand by my prior decisions," added Sofranko. MP Sofranko also thanked OLANO leader Igor Matovic, as well as other academic figures for their support. mta/df/ko
