Bratislava, December 23 (TASR) - Slovak ultramarathon runner Jozef Rajchl will try to run from the east to the west of Australia at the beginning of 2023, TASR learnt from his website xtremerun.com. Rajchl is scheduled to cover approximately 3,800 kilometres from Sydney to Perth from January 7 to February 22. "Five years ago, I covered half of this route Sydney-Ceduna, which was 1,987 km, but due to a sudden deterioration in my health, I had to stop the running expedition," he noted. An earlier repetition of the ultramarathon challenge was prevented by serious family reasons, later by the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Rajchl reported that the route along which he'll be running is made up of 80 percent asphalt roads and 20 percent unpaved roads. "Daytime temperatures will range from approximately 26 to 52 degrees Celsius and nighttime temperatures from 21 to 38 degrees Celsius," he stated, pointing out that until July 2022, only 24 runners managed to successfully run across Australia, but only two of them completed the run in such extreme temperatures as await the Slovak. am/mcs
