Extra Holidays are Ever More Popular in Slovakia

Bratislava, August 14 (TASR) - The proportion of employees with longer paid holidays than required by law has continued to increase in Slovakia this year; at present almost 16 percent of Slovak employees get extra holidays from their employers according to an analysis by the portal Platy.sk. Last year, the proportion was 14.6 percent. "This benefit has increased significantly especially in the last two years. Compared to 2020, about 2 percent of Slovaks have more holiday," said Nikola Richterova from company Profesia to which Platy.sk website belongs. Extra holidays occur most frequently in and around Bratislava, where more than 22 percent of employees get them. Kosice region with 17 percent comes second. The lowest proportion, only 8 percent get them in Presov region. The analysis has shown that workers in banking and finance are most likely to get extra holidays, with a proportion of 46 percent. Workers in electricity and gas supply, insurance and the state and public sphere come next. The staff of restaurants, bars and dining rooms come last, with only 1.55 percent getting extra holidays. mcs/am/ko
