(TA3, V politike, August 7) In the event of Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) leaving the governing coalition, it would be possible to govern without the party if it supported "good bills" in Parliament, OLaNO MP Milan Vetrak opined on TA3's discussion programme 'In Politics' on Sunday. Addressing SaS's demand that Finance Minister Igor Matovic (OLaNO) must be ousted by the end of the summer, Vetrak stated that he is not aware of any professional reason to dismiss the minister. Meanwhile, SaS MP Jana Bitto Ciganikova, who was also on the programme, claimed that SaS would indeed support beneficial measures proposed by the coalition even if it the party became part of the opposition. According to Ciganikova, SaS can imagine remaining in the current coalition of four parties after September 1, but only if its ultimatum concerning Matovic is fulfilled. The MP stressed that SaS won't make any concessions in the matter. Vetrak remarked on this note that he hopes that SaS will reconsider its demand eventually. According to the OLaNO MP, it wouldn't be possible to hold a snap general election this year due to legal time limits. Vetrak claimed that even if the coalition agreed on a snap election in September, the election would actually take place in a year from then. He also pointed to the fact that it remains to be seen whether President Zuzana Caputova will accept the resignations of SaS ministers if they ultimately leave the Government. zel
