Bratislava, June 23 (TASR) - Parliament on Thursday turned down an extraordinary one-off valorisation of pensions sponsored by Independent MPs working in the extra-parliamentary Voice-SD party. The bill on social insurance aimed to ensure an extraordinary one-off valorisation of pensions paid as of January 1, 2022 and granted in 2022. The amount of valorisation is based on the amount of so-called pension inflation reported by the Statistics Office for the period of the second half of 2021. The draft envisaged the valorisation of pensions by a total of 4.6 percent, taking into account the valorisation carried out as of 1 January 2022. "I am very sorry for the governing coalition's approach to the fate of millions of people in Slovakia," Independent MP and Voice-SD leader Peter Pellegrini commented on the result of the vote. According to him, the government fails to manage the country in these times, pointing to the significantly falling living standards of pensioners. ko/mcs
