Foreign Minister Korcok Meets with MEPs to Discuss Revisioning of EU Agreements

Bratislava, May 23 (TASR) - Chief of Slovak diplomacy Ivan Korcok met with Slovak MEPs on Monday to discuss the conclusion of the Conference on the Future of Europe (CoFoE), TASR learnt from the ministry press department on the same day. As for the revision of the EU agreements, an issue that has been resonating through the EU since CoFoE, Korcok stated: "We're not opposed to the discussion on the revision of the agreements, but benefits for the citizens must be clear beforehand. Changes to the agreements must not be purpose-built nor work to strengthen one EU institution, for example, the European Parliament, at the expense of others. The EU member states and EU institutions must pull on the same end of the rope, now more than ever before." Also broached in the discussion with MEPs Miriam Lexmann, Michal Simecka and Martin Hojsik were other topics related to Slovakia's EU membership, such as the protection of the rule of law, post-pandemic economic recovery, the ending of EU's energy dependency on the Russian oil and gas, and other issues. mf
