Pilots Who Died in Crash Competed in FCC Gliding 2022 Event

Trebostovo/Prievidza, April 26 (TASR) - The two pilots who died in the collision of gliders near the village of Trebostovo (Zilina region) on Tuesday were competing in the international Flight Challenge Cup (FCC) Gliding 2022, hosted these days by the Prievidza Aiport, organisers of the competition confirmed to TASR on the same day. The sailplanes crashed above the Konciar Peak and fell onto the mountain in the poorly accessible terrain. The pilots from Poland and Lithuania died in the accident. All the other competitors returned to the Prievidza Airport or landed safely in the field. The accident is being investigated by the Transport Ministry's aviation authority, Transport and Construction Minister Andrej Dolezal (We Are Family nominee) told TASR, adding that more detailed information will be released only after the investigation is concluded. "The event organisers express their sincere condolences to the bereaved families and everyone on the Polish and Lithuanian teams," Aeroclub Prievidza and the Kosice Aviation Agency stated on the event's official website. mf/mcs
