IT: Slovakia's Most Frequent Google Searches of 2021 Were for Pandemic Info

Bratislava, December 18 (TASR)- Slovakia's most frequent Google search of 2021 was "korona.gov.sk" (a government information website on the Covid pandemic), and the top ten most frequent searches of Slovak Google included further items connected with the pandemic of the novel coronavirus, the lottery organised to encourage vaccination and the census. After "korona.gov.sk" the most frequent search items were: Edupage, Bezkriedy (an educational website), sčítanie obyvateľov (census), FlashScore.sk, COVID automat, Byť zdravý je výhra (To be health is to win), očkovanie (vaccination), očkovacia lotéria (vaccination lottery) and eHranica (eFrontier). Google also produced lists for various categories. Among Slovak people the most popular were the skier Petra Vlhova and the influencer Zuzana Plackova. They were followed by ice-hockey player Boris Valabik, Premier Eduard Heger and golf player Rory Sabbatini. Among foreign personalities, Slovaks took most interest in the singer Lady Gaga, actor Alec Baldwin, Pope Francis, football player Cristiano Ronaldo and dancer Charlie D'Amelio. The category of "sad departures" was dominated by the recently deceased singer Miroslav Zbirka. He was followed by the entertainer Milan Lasica and presenter of programmes Julo Viršík. In the field of domestic and world events, Slovaks were most interested in this year's census. It was followed by the vaccination lottery, proposed referendum on holding early elections, visit of Pope Francis to Slovakia, events in Afghanistan, lockdown in Slovakia and tornado in Hodonin (Czech Republic near the Slovak border). In connection with the word "How", people most frequently sought instruction on: "How to get a Covid pass". In second place was: "How to weave a whip" (for use in a popular Easter custom). Other examples include: "How long is an antigen test valid," and how to apply for vaccination or the vaccination lottery.
