Bratislava, December 4 (TASR) - Several representatives of the extra-parliamentary Together party announced at a press press conference on Friday that they’re set to join the non-parliamentary Progressive Slovakia (PS) party, including MEP Michal Wiezik, former Together leadership member Martin Pekar, Tamara Stohlova, Erik Kliment, Eva Kalkan and others. PS head Irena Bihariova stated that the new faces are bringing valuable professional capital with them to her party. She believes that together they’ll contribute towards success for PS in the next municipal, European Parliament and general elections in Slovakia. “Today is proof that PS has the potential to attract and does attract quality people who have had successful careers and whose values are in the right place. They've chosen our party because they have no doubt that their work will find a place here, that they'll find like-minded people here who are passionate about good causes,” said Bihariova. “I'm joining PS, which I see as the only movement on the political scene in Slovakia that consistently advocates and addresses the importance of the green agenda. Environmental problems are existential, and resolving them is essential," said Wiezik. In light of the switch from Together to PS, the MEP announced that he’s also leaving the European People’s Party (EPP) in the EP and joining the Renew Europe faction. He believes that he'll have more opportunities there to make use of his professional environmental and ecological potential. Together and PS ran together as a two-party coalition in the most recent general election, but they ultimately failed to make it into Parliament. zel/df/am
