Bratislava, November 25 (TASR) - The Defence Ministry is set to donate more than 2,100 decommissioned desktop computers dating back to 1994-2014 to the Roma Progress Zvolen civil association, aiming to contribute to the support of education, upbringing and awareness-raising activities concerning children and youngsters from socially disadvantaged backgrounds, TASR learnt from Defence Ministry spokeswoman Martina Koval Kakascikova on Thursday. Defence Minister Jaroslav Nad (OLaNO) stated in this regard that he fails to understand why these decommissioned but functional computers have been in storage for years. He explained that the project came into being when he approached Petr Pollak Jr., who deals with issues concerning marginalised groups, to find a meaningful activity that would be of assistance. "Indifference towards the handling of state property in the possession of the Defence Ministry is a thing of the past. We're happy to put to use whatever we can. Moreover, even in today's digital age, a computer is not commonplace for many families in Slovakia, which is why we've decided to donate our surplus disused technology to a civil association that works with these families," said the minister. zel/df
