TASR brings a quick morning overview of the most important events seen in Slovakia on the previous day (Saturday, July 3): NEW POSITIVE PCR TESTS: 20 Positive PCR tests in total: 391,696 NEW POSITIVE ANTIGEN TESTS: 12 Positive antigen tests in total: 386,830 NEW DEATHS: 2 Deaths in total: 12,513 BRATISLAVA - Several crossing points on the Slovak-Hungarian border will be shut down as of Monday, July 5, the Slovak Foreign Affairs Ministry reported on its website on Saturday. The list of the crossing points is as follows: Velky Kamenec - Pacin; Slovenske Nove Mesto - Satoraljaujhely; Skaros - Hollohaza; Domica - Aggtelek; Tachty - Cered; and Kalonda – Ipolytarnoc. BRATISLAVA - The police will carry out intensive checks of travellers entering the country as of Monday, Police Corps Presidium spokeswoman Denisa Bardyova reported on Saturday, adding that the checks will also concern selected trains, train stations and airports. Bardyova explained that police officers will oversee whether inbound travellers have registered themselves via the eHranica form prior to crossing country’s borders and check whether they have been vaccinated against or tested for COVID-19. BRATISLAVA - A Specialised Criminal Court (STS) judge overseeing preliminary proceedings ruled on Saturday that five of the fourteen people who were charged this week with tax refund fraud won’t be remanded in custody, TASR learnt on the same day from STS spokeswoman Katarina Kudjakova. BRATISLAVA - A recent survey carried out by the 2Muse agency has shown that half of Slovaks won't go on summer holiday this year due to drops in their incomes. Meanwhile, 40 percent of the respondents claimed that they intend to travel more this summer, with 80 percent stating that the possibility to travel was among their main reasons to get vaccinated against COVID-19. According to the survey, one in two Slovaks have had to dip in their savings due to the pandemic. Interestingly, the survey revealed that there’s a correlation between Slovak’s willingness to get vaccinated and their financial situation, as more than a third of the worst-off respondents didn’t want to be inoculated. Conversely, 40 percent of the financially secure respondents inclined towards vaccination. zel
