Bratislava, July 1 (TASR) - Chief of Slovak diplomacy Ivan Korcok (SaS nominee) opened the Summer Concert of Classical Music in the Palugyay Palace in Bratislava on Thursday as part of the first year of Stefan Osusky's Summer School of Diplomacy.
Founded by the ministry with an aim to inspire interest in foreign affairs among the young generation, the summer school has been attended by 20 students selected out of 219 applicants.
Following a series of lectures about the foreign and European policy, strategic communication, economic and digital diplomacy, hybrid threats as well as the fight against disinformation, the students thus experienced also the "cultural dimension of the diplomacy" - a musical event attended by members of diplomatic corps and figures of public life and culture.
"Slovaks and Slovak diplomats have left a deep-seated mark in international ties long before the creation of the independent Slovak Republic in 1993. Aside from General Milan Rastislav Stefanik, it's necessary to mention names such as Juraj Slavik, Ivan Krno, Jan Papanek, Vladimir Svetozar Hurban, Vladimir Martin Palic, Milan Hodza and many others," stated Korcok in his speech.
"In this context, the name of Stefan Osusky was a natural choice. We're honoured to have acquired the approval of his family to link our school with this distinguished luminary of the Czechoslovak, Slovak politics and diplomacy," said Korcok.
The school will end on Friday, July 2, with a discussion between Korcok and the students at the ministry.
