Bratislava, June 28 (TASR) - Foreign Affairs Minister Ivan Korcok (a SaS nominee) opened the new Stefan Osusky's Summer School of Diplomacy on Monday, the communications department of the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MFA) told TASR on the same day.
The aim of the project is to stimulate interest among the young in what is happening in foreign policy and to build on the values, traditions and life stories of leading figures of Slovak diplomacy.
Twenty young people from all over Slovakia will have an opportunity to attend lectures, workshops and practical training with leading lecturers and figures from diplomacy and from public and political life. "Today, we are establishing a new tradition of a summer diplomatic school at MFA, which will open every year. I care about the young generation, and I partly want to use this project to encourage and motivate young young people to consider working for Slovakia when seeking a job," said Korcok. The inspiration for this idea was Korcok's personal experience from a similar summer diplomatic school in Bregenz, Austria in 1992.
The MFA project bears the name of ambassador Stefan Osusky (1889-1973), who as a politician and diplomat made a significant contribution to the setting up of Czechoslovakia. His ideas regarding international cooperation inspired Robert Schuman when he laid down the foundations of the future European Union.
Stefan Osusky's Summer School of Diplomacy will be open from Monday until July 3. Twenty people aged up to 30 who were selected from a tough competition involving more than 200 applicants are taking part.
