OLaNO Champions Milder Punishments for Marijuana Users

Bratislava, May 17 (TASR) - The coalition OLaNO party plans to spend the following weeks talking about specific revisions to the Penal Code that could introduce more lenient punishments for marijuana users. The goal is to arrive at a consensus with the Justice Ministry, which is already drafting its own motion, stated OLaNO MP Juraj Krupa. "I'm glad that even the debate earlier today (Monday) confirmed that the existing legal state is objectionable, as it fails to distinguish between dealers and users," said Krupa. The lawmakers underlined that fairer punishments won't spell the relaxation of drugs policy or their proliferation, as the state should continue to prosecute the drug dealers resolutely.
