Sulik: I See Matovic's Trip to Moscow as Effort to Make Sputnik Available

Bratislava, April 8 (TASR) - I view former premier and incumbent Finance Minister Igor Matovic's (OLaNO) trip to Moscow on Thursday as an effort to make the Russian Sputnik V vaccine against novel coronavirus available to people in Slovakia, said Vice-premier and Economy Minister Richard Sulik (Freedom and Solidarity/SaS) on Thursday at a press conference dedicated to his ministry's priorities for the coming months. "I see Igor Matovic's very clear effort to make Sputnik available to people who want it, and we support this," said Sulik, adding that the SaS party has never been against importing Sputnik. "On the contrary, if part of the population wants Sputnik, let them get it," added Sulik. The economy minister declined to respond to Matovic's status on a social network, according to which "somebody continues to play their dirty game" with Sputnik in Slovakia and wants to prevent its use. However, Sulik ruled out that SaS or someone from the coalition wants to prevent the use of the Russian vaccine. "I can definitely rule that out. We were also in favour of Sputnik coming in because if it really saves people's lives, I don't see any reason to play any geopolitical games here," added the minister. am/df
