Bratislava, January 14 (TASR) - Schools will continue with remote education as of next Monday (January 18), as has been the case this week, TASR learnt from the Education Ministry's press department on Thursday. Nursery schools are only open to the children of parents working in critical infrastructure and the children of parents whose type of work doesn't enable them to work from home. Children's school clubs may only be attended by children of health-care professionals and the children of those engaged in the critical infrastructure and those who cannot work from home. Pupils of the first and second level of primary schools and secondary school students will learn remotely. The Education Ministry a few weeks ago presented a COVID automaton, which contains information on the epidemiological situation under which pupils might return to school. However, the data are unfavourable at the moment. "Despite our efforts to return pupils to classrooms as soon as possible, it won't be possible to do so next week. The situation regarding coronavirus is serious all over Slovakia. We discussed the situation and agreed that it will be safest for everyone to hold on for a while," said Education Minister Branislav Groehling (Freedom and Solidarity/SaS). The situation will be re-evaluated next week. "In the week starting on January 18 we'll again inform the public about how education will look as of the following Monday (January 25)," said Groehling. ko/df
