Bratislava, September 17 (TASR) - The judge overseeing preliminary proceedings at the Specialised Criminal Court in Banska Bystrica has remanded in custody four people detained and charged under Operation Plevel (Weeds), TASR learnt early on Thursday morning. The National Crime Agency (NAKA) detained five people on Monday, including head of Zilina Regional Court Eva K., a judge of Zilina District Court Daniel B. and a retired judge of Zilina Regional Court Pavol P. Court spokeswoman Katarina Kudjakova confirmed for TASR that the judge remanded them in custody based on concerns that they could influence witnesses in the case. The four people have been charged with bribery and other crimes. The decision isn't yet valid, and those charged have filed an appeal against it. It will be dealt with by the Supreme Court. Meanwhile, Eva K. was released on Tuesday without being charged. Operation Plevel concerns corruption-based criminal activities at courts. zel/df
