SaS Supports Lifting of State of Emergency, Points to Zero Median

Bratislava, June 3 (TASR) - The co-governing Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) party supports lifting of the state of emergency, referring to the zero value of the seven-day median, TASR has learnt from SaS spokesman Ondrej Sprlak. "The Freedom and Solidarity party views the median's zero value as an impetus for lifting the state of emergency in Slovakia. This is one of the reasons why SaS representatives cannot support its potential extension at the Government session under the current conditions," he said. Parliamentary health committee head Jana Ciganikova claims that the state of emergency makes no sense to physicians themselves and it's rather counterproductive to them. "Despite calls by physicians, as well the health minister himself, patients are afraid to visit health-care facilities, which might result in serious health complications. It's more than desirable to return back to normal also in terms of planned surgeries," she said. Parliamentary financial affairs committee head Marian Viskupic also views the health situation in the country as very good. "The economic situation of the country is worse and that's why we need to have the state of emergency lifted as soon as possible. We need to remove regulations and restrictions that are still in effect, stifling economic activity and start living a normal life again," said Viskupic. He added that Slovakia is only starting to feel the consequences of the economy's closure now and the government's fast intervention might significantly reduce and reverse this decline. ko/mcs
