MPs Okay Amendment Adjusting Care Allowance, Should Also Help Firms

Bratislava, March 25 (TASR) - Parliament approved an amendment to the Social Insurance Act in a fast-tracked procedure to help people in the crisis caused by the new coronavirus epidemic, TASR learnt on Wednesday. The conditions of the care allowance have been changed. It can now be provided to parents for all days during the closure of school and pre-school facilities. The benefit has been paid to date only for ten days. The amendment also regulates the Act on Employment Services. The aim is to support the elimination of the effects of this crisis on employment and the labour market by extending the range of active measures to the labour market with projects to support job retention and support for retention of employees in time of emergencies and immediately after their end. By approving this amendment, Parliament ended the second day of the third parliamentary session. am/mcs
