Bratislava, January 28 (TASR) - The extra-parliamentary Christian Democratic Movement (KDH) and For the People party on Tuesday called on Parliamentary Chair Andrej Danko (Slovak National Party/SNS) to step down due to his phone calls with Alena Zs., who"s among the accused in the case of the murder of journalist Jan Kuciak and his girlfriend. For the People is of the opinion that Danko should shed light on all the suspicions of him communicating with someone, who"s been charged in the cases of several murders. "At the same time he should apologise to the public for lies and immediately step down from the post of parliamentary chair," stated Independent MP and vice-chair of the party Veronika Remisova, adding that the law enforcement authorities should look into whether Danko"s communication with Alena Zs. didn"t compromise the state"s security and interests. Meanwhile, the Progressive Slovakia-Together coalition stated that "resigned, discredited and corrupted isn"t only Andrej Danko, but all the ministries SNS has been managing over the past four years". OLaNO leader Igor Matovic commented on the situation with an ironic remark about Danko on Facebook while Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) chief Richard Sulik commended the media for going public with the communication. Several Slovak media reported on Tuesday that Danko phoned in 2016 with Alena Zs. and that they were scheduling a date. The recordings of the communication have been obtained by the Organised Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), which shared them with the media. It remains unclear, however, whether the two actually met in the end. zel/mcs
