Sakova: Politicians Shouldn't Be Involved in Academia As Well

11. decembra 2019 20:22
Bratislava, December 11 (TASR) - It's highly questionable whether politicians should be involved in academia while politically active, Interior Minister Denisa Sakova (Smer-SD) stated on Wednesday. Sakova spoke in response to Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAV) urging MP Lubos Blaha (Smer-SD) to reconsider his tenure at SAV's Institute of Political Sciences over his recent posts on social networks. "This is a highly questionable issue that not only I but the entire political spectrum will need to address," claimed the interior minister. SAV spokesperson Monika Hucakova reported on Tuesday (December 10) that the SAV launched proceedings over a potential violation of its code of ethics by Blaha. The organisation also called upon Blaha to reconsider his tenure at the Institute of Political Sciences, "the reputation of which as well as the reputation of entire SAV he is seriously damaging with his statements". In his response, Blaha stated that he finds it absurd to have SAV comment on his political activities. mf/am
