Judge Sklenka, Who Exchanged 9,000 Messages with Marian K., Steps Down

Bratislava, December 6 (TASR) - Bratislava I District Court judge Vladimir Sklenka notified President Zuzana Caputova of his decision to step down from his post via a letter, TASR learnt from President's spokesman Martin Strizinec on Friday. According to Judicial Council's Special Commission chair Elena Berthotyova, Sklenka exchanged more than 9,000 chat messages with Marian K., a controversial entrepreneur charged with ordering the murder of journalist Jan Kuciak. Furthermore, Sklenka also accepted money from Marian K. and leaked insider information from Bratislava I District Court, Bratislava Regional Court but also the Supreme Court in turn. Sklenka also accepted cash from Marian K., as well as iPhone and issued invoices in the name of his wife for fictitious services. Sklenka's tenure will terminate as of December 31. mf/mcs
