Kosice: Scaremongers Face Charges for False Bomb Alerts

Kosice, December 2 (TASR) - Police pressed charges of scare-mongering against two individuals identified only as Patrik, 29, and Katarina, 22, of Michalovce (Kosice region), who reported false bomb alerts at courts in Michalovce and Kosice in mid-May, TASR learnt from Kosice regional police spokesperson Jana Mesarova on Monday. "Patrik asked Katarina to place a call on emergency line 112 from a mobile phone he provided to her and report two bombs at a court in Michalovce, and later specify that the bombs were set at Kosice Regional Court. No explosives were discovered during the security search of the premises," claimed the spokesperson. The checks required evacuation of the buildings, however, which meant that the court sessions had to be stopped. Damages caused to state bodies and the Interior Ministry were quantified at more than €15,000. If found guilty, the defendants might face up to eight years in jail. Patrik is already serving a sentence in jail for a different crime, whereas Katarina will be prosecuted at liberty. mf/mcs
