President Vetoes Amendments on Public Procurement and Substitute Alimony

Bratislava, November 8 (TASR) - President Zuzana Caputova has vetoed two bills on Friday, namely an amendment to the Public Procurement Act and an amendment to the Substitute Alimony Act, proposing that MPs should delete a number of the changes adopted. In the Public Procurement Act, she agreed with the reservations of the Public Procurement Office (UVO) as well as the objections of the professional public. "In the president's opinion, the approved amendment would limit competition in public procurement in several areas and reduce its transparency," said spokesman for the head of state Martin Strizinec. According to the president, the approved legislation on substitute alimony can lead to increasing the criminalisation of a larger number of people and to continuing inability to pay the designated alimony properly and in time. am/mcs
